Shigeko Suzuki & Ken Anno

Shigeko Suzuki
CNVC Certified Trainer and Assessor, vocalist, Alexander Technique teacher

Shigeko Suzuki is based in Japan. After studying law at the University of Tokyo, she chose music: she made her major-label debut in 1995, released many albums with Sony and was the first Japanese vocalist to perform live at the Blue Note in New York.

She encountered NVC in 2006, has been bringing it to Japan ever since, and in 2018 became the first person living in Japan to be certified as a CNVC trainer. She translated Marshall Rosenberg’s Speak Peace in a World of Conflict into Japanese and was on the trainer team of the IITs in Germany (2023) and Indonesia (2026).

She guides people in finding their own true voice through the body, the breath and the senses.

Ken Anno
CNVC Certified Trainer and Assessor, Training Director of AWE (Alexander Technique teacher training, Japan)

Ken Anno encountered NVC in 2004 through the Alexander Technique. Since 2006 he has invited international NVC trainers to Japan, facilitating and interpreting workshops nationwide. He assisted in the BayNVC Leadership Program from 2009 to 2018 and took part in the final IIT led by Marshall Rosenberg in 2011.

He was on the trainer team of the IIT Germany 2023 and a facilitator at the IIT in Bali in 2026. With a background in theater and choral singing, he integrates NVC and the Alexander Technique to cultivate dialogue, presence and shared leadership.

He is co-translator of the Japanese editions of Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life and Speak Peace in a World of Conflict.

Get a first taste of the International Intensive Training (IIT) Germany 2027, where NVC meets music. In this free one-hour online session, Shigeko Suzuki and Ken Anno guide you through voice exercises they will bring to the IIT: healing through your voice, connecting with your needs, and singing needs. At the end, there is time for your questions about the IIT. No musical experience needed.

mehr…

In May 2027, an International Intensive Training (IIT) in Nonviolent Communication will take place in Germany, at the Jonathan Seminarhotel in the beautiful Chiemgau region of Bavaria. Its main theme: music and NVC.

This free online session gives you a glimpse of what the IIT will be like.

Why music and NVC?

Our words and our true connection come from the heart, and the truth in the heart is like music. Music has a special power to help us connect deeply with ourselves and with others. Music with certain tones can also help our nervous system calm down.

Shigeko sang professionally for more than two decades before she started practicing NVC. Exploring music, voice and singing, and connecting with people as NVC practitioners, Shigeko and Ken see a real link between music and NVC. It is almost like singing: we bring our words from the heart, find a harmonized resonance of needs, and take action from there.

What we will do

  • Healing ourselves through our voice
  • Connecting with your needs
  • Singing needs
  • Q&A: your questions about the IIT Germany 2027, with Shigeko, Ken and organizer Jürgen Engel

These are some of the voice exercises you will experience in person at the IIT.

„We hope it gives you some experience of that harmony in your life. If you’re curious and have the time, we’d love to see you there, and maybe at the IIT in Germany too.“

Warmly, Shigeko and Ken
